A global SaaS/Cloud business has created a Senior Legal Counsel opportunity (fixed term contract for 12 months) to assist the General Counsel on complex compliance issues relating to corporate and commercial matters. You will be solely responsible for managing the compliance programme, providing risk-based advice both from a long-term strategic perspective and in managing day-to-day escalations.

You will work closely with the Tax, Treasury, Company Secretariat, Commercial Legal and Corporate teams in assisting with legal compliance policies (such as Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Sanctions and Competition Law) and oversee the implementation of controls and procedures to ensure effective embedding of the policies within the business units across the globe. You will design and deliver training to business colleagues, in a way that adequately addresses legal risk but is also accessible, pragmatic and presented in commercial language which allows non-Legal colleagues to comprehend. You will manage last-minute compliance issues as they arise, where you will firefight escalating and involving issues for other stakeholders as appropriate. Must take the lead legal role in assisting with strategic projects, including third party financing (loan agreements, debt security issuances, etc.), capital returns, intragroup re-organisations and intragroup agreements. You will be expected to quickly identify risks that could impact the business commercially where you’re required to constantly improve the businesses ability to manage legal and compliance risk issues.

Candidates must have at least 4 years PQE with current experience in providing corporate/commercial/compliance legal advice specifically within compliance policies. Experience of working for global publicly listed companies and/or within the Technology sector would really interest the General Counsel. Must have a natural ability to build strong relationships with business stakeholders to effectively influence in areas of compliance risk and provide legal advice which is appropriate for the commercial context. Ability to analyse legal and commercial issues and to provide clear explanations of legal matters with solutions-oriented advice that others can understand and implement. Applicants with knowledge of SaaS, Cloud, commercial contracts, competition law, data privacy and experience working in commerce would be highly advantageous. This opportunity is a Fixed Term Contract for 12 months.
