Head of Legal (Environmental Law) – Fortune 50 Tech – London

A fortune 50 Tech business is keen to hire an experienced Environmental Lawyer to manage and develop a team in London with a focus on UK and EMEA-related Environmental legal & compliance matters. This dynamic and rapidly growing business offers its customers the forefront of cloud and IT infrastructure services including so much more.You will work as part of a global Environmental & Safety team with a direct report to the US office where you will be solely responsible for all Environmental legal matters to advise the business on upcoming regulatory changes and how to pragmatically apply them. This position requires you to manage pre-litigation legal disputes and issues that arise where you will be exposed to an array of Environmental matters including ad-hoc advice on compliance issues, monitoring and advising the business of upcoming regulatory changes, developing and improving compliance policies and procedures, and working cross-functionally with other teams to ensure all processes are compliant.  You will negotiate with the Head of Legal (Commercial IT Team) on commercial transactions with large vendors, resolve issues that may arise in the compliance areas including inspections, and handle pre-litigation legal disputes. The vast majority of your working day will focus on global sustainability and circular economy objectives and evolving global requirements, as well as customer sustainability inquiries and voluntary environmental commitments.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of legal experience gained in Environmental Law & Compliance, with training from a leading UK or International Law Firm. Our client is a fast-growing B2B Reg-Tech Startup seeking to hire its first Legal Counsel to assist with the growth and launch of the business. This business is backed by a globally acclaimed financial advisory and consulting firm which has already enabled the business to signup an impressive portfolio of clients mainly consisting of 35 global banks. The business offers a really innovative sanction clearing technology platform that will transform how banks operate sanction compliance around the world.You will join as sole legal counsel and will be responsible for providing broad legal support to the business, mainly drafting and negotiating contracts of which many will be focused on IT development and IT commercial development. You will support the senior management and leadership teams on commercial matters where strong legal and pragmatic advice is required. You will review the existing legal framework and create a legal panel to best the needs of senior management.The ideal candidate will come from an in-house legal team ideally with the Reg Tech or Fin Tech space where you have gained the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with significant exposure to senior stakeholders. In-House Real Estate Finance Lawyer – London (2-5yrs)

Our client is a US specialist asset manager with a special focus on complex performing and non-performing credit on behalf of commercial real estate lenders and investors. Following the success of their UK launch, the EMEA Head of Legal was promoted to Managing Director, they now seek a mid-level real estate finance lawyer to join their expanding Legal & Compliance team.The RoleYou will report to the Managing Director and focus on closing major deals where the business is acting as the Facility Agent and/or Security Agent. This position is closely aligned with the EMEA Credit Administration team where you’ll both work with external counsel in relation to reviewing, drafting and interpreting relevant finance documents. You will provide ad-hoc pragmatic legal advice and assistance to the wider EMEA team where you’ll be required to work autonomously on exciting projects.The CandidateMust be a UK-qualified real estate finance lawyer with a minimum of 2.5 yrs PQE having some working knowledge of loan servicing, ideally focused within The EU market. Knowledge of securitized products, particularly in relation to the role of the servicer in CMBS and CLO transactions, is beneficial but not essential. Commercial & Privacy Counsel North East UK/Remote

A global leader in the world of SaaS and Technology Platform development has a newly created Legal Counsel (2yrs+) opportunity to focus on product development, sales and marketing. You will assist the Commercial Legal team with advice in connection with complex privacy legal matters (including regional Commercial Legal team members), and privacy risk incident management.You will provide commercial and pragmatic legal advice whilst taking all risks into consideration to ensure commercial business activity is compliant with data protection legal requirements. You will assist senior commercial and business advisors and will sit within a team which supports UK-wide product delivery and wider legal initiatives i.e. Code of Conduct/data protection/anti-bribery. You will provide commercial and privacy advice relating to jurisdictions outside of the UK and data privacy risk incidents, to handle such matters in conjunction with the VP of Privacy and Data Protection, regional colleagues and instructed external counsel where relevant. You will support and guide junior team members in their tasks, in particular, their monitoring of the Global Privacy mailbox.Candidates must have at least 2.5yrs PQE with strong commercial law experience and a keen interest to develop a dual Commercial/Privacy legal career. Ideally, you will have gained in-house legal experience in providing commercial legal and privacy advice with a particular focus on negotiating technology contracts. Applicants with knowledge of SaaS, Cloud, commercial contracts and experience working in Privacy would be highly advantageous but not essential. This role is based in central London where you will support the business and IT teams on new product launches in multiple jurisdictions. You will report to the Head of Legal and work closely with the Group General Counsel where candidates must demonstrate the initiative to work autonomously.This opportunity offers considerable autonomy where you can lead on multimillion contracts and report to the General Counsel who is a highly respected International Lawyer with considerable telco and mobile operations knowledge. This position is ideal for a Legal Counsel (5-12yrs) who is pragmatic and capable to cope with last-minute commercial issues. While the senior management team is UK-based, you will have regular interaction with the EMEA and APAC offices to focus on a broad range of Commercial Contracts, IP/IT/Telecommunications with an element of Compliance and governance and M&A.The Candidate must have a minimum of 4.5yrs PQE with training gained from a leading law firm and some prior in-house experience (or secondment) negotiating, advising and reviewing a broad range of commercial contracts. Legal Counsel IP/IT Tech – Toronto OR Quebec City (Remote)

With over 4,000 employees and yearly revenues exceeding €700 million in over 160 countries, this business continues to grow with major expansion plans for 2022. They now wish to hire a legal counsel to join the Candian Legal Team which currently has 30+ team members working worldwide.The RoleYou will be responsible for commercial/IT negotiations (focusing primarily on Canada and North America) and other general legal work. Your ability to draft and negotiate commercial software licensing, consulting and subcontracting agreements and advise on responding to RFPs. The trick with this role is to find the balance between legal and commercial risk against the commercial priorities of the company. This position requires you to act as the trusted legal advisor to internal stakeholders with respect to commercial transactions and the development of commercial programs.The CandidateMust be fluent in English, while being a French Speaking Lawyer is advantageous and not required. Must have obtained a law degree from a credible University and have legal training from a leading Law Firm. Must have a minimum of 3 years of commercial law experience gained in-house. Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with software licensing transactions and/or experience in the IT/software industry.
